A few more cracks in the glass ceiling...

Flashback to 1984....

I was probably 12 or 13, and standing in my Grandma Ann's kitchen. She was making cookies, and stopped to give me something. Out of her apron, she pulled a Mondale/Ferraro button. As she was pinning it on, she patted me on the head and with great hope in her voice said someday a woman was going to be President!

My Grandma was a diehard Democrat, and growing up I knew more about the Kennedy's, than some members of my own family. After my Grandfather passed away, my Grandma remarried another diehard Democrat. However, he apparently crossed party lines and voted for a Republican ONCE. That story has been told and retold to the point that it's taken on a folklore like quality in our family. Apparently, my Grandma loved him enough to overlook his voting record.

I thought of my Grandma alot today...and felt some of her hope when I heard that McCain had picked Sarah Palin as his running mate! I'm excited not only because she's a woman, but because she's a woman who shares the same values as me.

Now, my Grandma would NOT be thrilled to know I'm voting Republican these days...but I think she'd be happy that within her granddaughters lifetime...a woman just may be President!

    Hi Michelle,
I popped over here from your facebook! I don't know what to think of McCain's choice. Seems totally political to me because they are total opposites--she being a conservative Republican and him being a ! I wrote about her on my blog too.

I was wondering what you thought about this whole thing. Are you heading to Minneapolis for the convention? Should be a very interesting race....
