People...this is not fashion!

In case you haven't seen them...these new shoes are called Crocs, and "everybody is wearing them!" Everybody except me.
When I was little girl growing up in the boondocks of Minnesota, our neighbor lady used to wear these in the garden when she was watering, and generally walking around in the muck. She called them her "mud shoes!"
I can't even explain my level of distress when I saw several, otherwise fashionable, women walking around with these.
People..please stop the insanity! This is not fashion, and just because your new blue crocs match your new blue pants doesn't mean you
should wear them!

I admit that I think Crocs look pretty silly, too. BUT! Have you tried them on? They are super comfortable--light as air, with good traction. I first saw them on nurses in the hospital who have to be on their feet all day. I see your connection to the garden or "mud" shoes, but surely these can't be exactly the same thing: the mud would get right in all those holes! :) I'm not sure they are fashion or not, but isn't it kind of refreshing that women might be able to be "fashionable" without killing their feet in the process? ;) (Personally, I do have a pair, but I never wear them out of the house!)

PS--I'm really going to miss you on The Morning Show!!!!

    Jessica,

I don't think my neighbor had the kind with holes, but they are similar, and just as hideous. I actually haven't tried any of these on, and probably won't, just out of principle. So, I'm glad you keep your crocs in the house! :)

Thanks for your well wishes as I move on from the morning show. I appreciate it!

    Michelle

Oh my, you have no idea how much I agree with you. I've tried them on, and yes, they're very comfortable. But so are Clarks' Privo line! ;) I think Crocs are adorable on little kids...after that, people really should only wear them in the safety and privacy of their own homes. Did you know they're practically a status symbol in Ireland & the UK? They're really expensive there so if you own a pair, you got "money"...or something. Yikes.

    :)

I must turn myself into the fashion police immediately because, now that I've found Crocs, I rarely wear anything else! And I've turned Hans onto them. I have the traditional (ugly) ones in white and hot pink, cute ballet flats in red, and now I'm hoping to get the new strappy wedge in black!

I know this was posted a year ago, but I'm a little slow. Okay now I'm embarrased to tell you I own a pair of crocs. After my foot injury last summer I had to find something that would help support my foot. I usually only where them to work (dark brown)and they match my red and khaki. If I come to Chicago I'll make sure to leave them at home ;)

I have to tell you that a couple years ago, I was making fun of my mother-in-law's "plastic" shoes. Meanwhile, my hubby bought a pair because all the nurses were wearing them and saying they're comfy and we was looking for something to wear in the garden...
My mother-in-law bought me a pair for Christmas which I hate to admit, that I wear often, but mostly to the pool. In fact, we were the "croc" family at the pool this summer-but I did get the cheap version for the kids.
